Valorant Rankings: How Do They Work in 2023 and Expert Tips!

For everyone else in the world, Valorant might just be another first-person shooter, but for those who consider games as their lives, they know that Valorant is much more than that. Valorant Rankings are not just numbers or stats, they are a show of pride for these gamers.

Valorant, which was developed by Riot Games didn’t take long before becoming one of the most popular first-person shooters, thanks to its ever-exciting gameplay, intense close combat action sequences, unique weapons and abilities. One of the most exciting things about the game is Valorant Rankings. This ranking system allows players to not only compete with each other but also to access newer, premium liberties which we are going to talk about in today’s blog.

Valorant Rankings

How Valorant Rankings Work

Before getting into all the details of Valorant Rankings, the first and foremost thing we need to do is understand how the Valorant Rankings work. The ranking system is based on a competitive ladder in which players who are competing in ranked matches earn points, which are used to calculate their ranks.

If you are a sports fan, you must know what the Elo System is. Well, Valorant Rankins are calculated based on this Elo System where players start at the bottom of the ladder and work their way up by winning matches. Each player will earn or lose points based on each match. Winning a match will earn them points and vice-versa.

The best thing about calculating Valorant Rankings based on the Elo system is that their winning points also depend on their enemies’ rankings. For example, if the winning team has a higher average rank than the losing team, they will earn fewer points, also the losing team will lose fewer points. But, when a winning team has a lower average rank than the losing team, they earn significantly much more points and the team which loses will lose more points.

While most players focus on just Valorant Rankings, most tend to forget about Rank Points, commonly known as RP. Each player will earn RP for each win they confiscate from the enemy. This RP can be used as an in-game currency to purchase various items in the game.

Valorant Rankings consist of eight ranks: Iron, Bronze, Silver, Gold, Platinum, Diamond, Immortal, and Radiant. We have discussed all of these ranks in detail in the next section.

Valorant Ranked System

Since its launch in 2020, the competitive mode has had eight different ranks in the Valorant Ranked System, each representing a specific skill level which is discussed briefly in this section.

Iron Rank

Iron is the lowest of the Valorant Ranks and the place where all new players start their competitive journey. Obviously, these players have a limited understanding of the game and its mechanics and gameplay.

However, if you as a player have a positive attitude and a basic understanding of how first-person shooter work, you can contribute to your team’s success.

Bronze Rank

Bronze is the second of the Valorant Rankings where most players end up after playing only a few games.

Once a player is more familiar with the different agents and their abilities in Valorant, it does not take long to charge up to the Bronze rank. If you want to move upwards from this Valorant ranking, you will have to focus not just on your gameplay, but also on your communication skills with your team in the game.

Silver Rank

With a significant increase in abilities and aim control, players in Silver rank will be much tougher to fight against, so make sure that you are well prepared if the team against you is around this rank.

Gold Rank

This rank, as the name suggests is where the competition starts to get tough. If you have reached here, you will have to step up your game to keep moving up in the competitive mode.

Platinum Rank

Players in platinum rank are exceptionally skilled at almost all the aspects of Valorant, be it gunplay, understanding of the map, or communication skills. These players are extremely rare to find in a competitive mode if you are not Gold or above in your own Valorant Rankins.

Diamond Rank

The third highest rank in Valorant Rankings, diamond players have an outstandingly excellent aim, movement, and overall game sense. So, if you are put up against a player in the diamond rank, first of all, be proud of yourself.

Immortal Rank

Immortal is the second-highest rank in Valorant and any player that is boasting this card is most definitely a pro player or a teenager who has pretty much nothing to do in life, but Valorant is his/her life.

Radiant Rank

Radiant is the absolute highest rank in Valorant and only contains players that are dedicated to the game to the extreme. If you ever get a chance to play against these players, you will realise that they can read their opponent’s moves and react accordingly almost instantly.

How To Improve Valorant Rankings

This section in today’s blog is probably why everyone has come. Well, we promise you that we will not disappoint you. With almost more than two years of playing the game, this section is full of tricks that will improve your game which in turn will improve your Valorant rank for sure.

Improving Your Aim

While this might sound obvious, not many new players understand how to improve aim in Valorant or any other first-person shooter game for that matter. Follow the points mentioned below and we can guarantee that this will help you raise your Valorant Rankings.

Adjust Your Mouse Sensitivity

If you want to improve your aim, adjusting mouse sensitivity is critical as it will help you make quick turns and react faster, but if not calibrated properly, a player will not be able to fire accurately. So, take some time and find the right balance that works for you.

Crosshair Placement

Crosshair placement is a very critical element, not just in Valorant but in any game that has a crosshair. Placing your crosshair at all times at head level will certainly help you put your aim on the enemy’s head faster and more accurately,

Select the Right Weapon

While there are tons of weapons to choose from in Valorant, each player must understand that not each of these weapons is made for them. Each player must find their unique preferences and ease of use. Players who prefer to play aggressively might play well with a submachine gun, while if they prefer to play defensively a sniper rifle might be a much better choice for them.

Stay Up-to-Date

It is extremely important in pushing your Valorant Rankings that you are updated with the latest Valorant update as the game is constantly evolving as new agents, weapons, special abilities and maps are introduced.

Players can stay up-to-date on the latest patches by following the game’s official social media channels, checking out the developer’s website and the easiest and most entertaining way is by watching professional players play the game on their streams. Communication is the Key

One of the most underrated yet one of the most important aspects of any game is communication. Players need to understand that teamwork makes dream work, for which each player will need to work together as a team and communicate effectively. Using voice chat with your teammates will help not just you but everyone in the game to be on their toes and make the kill.

Mechanics of the Game

Just like every other legendary game, Valorant has its own set of mechanics that will require each player to practice to master. Spending time in the practice range, friendly matches and experimenting with weapons and abilities will help players understand the mechanics of the game as it will become their muscle memory when the right time comes.

Understanding the Maps

With years of gaming experience, one thing that we have understood quite well is that each map comes with its unique layout and strategy which can be put to good use only if a player understands the map inside out. Once you play a certain number of games on one map, you will start realising that something has changed and now you are starting to score better than ever. Well, that is the magic of learning the trick of the trade.

Play With the Same Team

While these games are mostly only played with a team, the difference comes when you play with the same players. It helps as each player in the team will know what their skill is and how it can complement the skill of the other players in the team. Communication is easier, players are willing to help each other, the energy is good and you can coordinate strategies in a much more effective way,

Following Your Role

One of the most undervalued things while pushing your Valorant Rankings is that players do not realise that they have a particular role to play. Each of us has seen in our years of gaming experience that a sniper will drop their sniper and pick up an SMG only because he feels that he can get more kills and points by pushing.

What this does is that the team who was relying on the sniper will no more have the required cover from the designated sniper, and if things go wrong everything will fall like a domino.

Consistency

While we are not saying that Valorant Rankings are everything if you are serious about pushing those numbers and going through gold and then platinum and so on, you will have to be consistent about your game.

Practising regularly is the key to improvement in any game. Players should make sure that they are setting aside a certain number of hours each day towards Valorant and also play a minimum number of ranked matches which will put them against quality opponents.

Rank Decay

Talking about consistency, people often forget that apart from winning and losing to earn and lose Valorant Rankings, players can also fall in their Valorant Rankings with rank decay.

If you do not know what Rank decay is, what are we here for? Rank Decay is a system in which a player will start losing a significant amount of rank points if they don’t play a ranked match in a certain amount of time. While the number of points a player will lose depends on the player’s rank, the basic rule of thumb is that the higher ranks will start losing more points than the lower ranks.

The basic agenda behind Rank decay is to ensure that players are actively playing ranked matches. So, play the game, focus, save your rank and achieve the best of the Valorant Rankings! To know more about rank in Valorant’s competitive mode, click here.
